February 12, Filed under: Photography — Jade 9: For my initial research I will start by looking into street photographers. At the moment, I have three in mind that I want to look at.

I chose these two photographers because they display different ways of looking at the high street and people found within them. I am also aiming to look at the work of Banksy who is a famous graffiti artists, yet his identity is unknown.

I feel that graffiti is an important aspect in todays modern society as it can be found anywhere, and can be used for so many different purposes, and I would like to try and capture this within my work.

When I chose this theme, my initial thoughts were of shop fronts, produce and people. After thinking about the project title more thoroughly I realise there are so many more routes for my work to go down such as transport, signs, reflections, unusual angles and abstract patterns or shapes found with the high street.

To show progression through my work I will start by photographing the basic scenes of my local town Oswestry. I will then develop these images further by taking more ideas from them and editing them.

I then hope to venture from within Oswestry to larger towns and cities such as Shrewsbury, Wrexham, Chester and Derby.

I already have a lot of ideas running through my head for this project which will propel me in the right direction. I would like to experiment with a wide range of techniques within my work. I have an mm lens which I will take most of my photographs on, but I would also like to experiment with my fisheye lens to see the effects that I can create with it.

I have six weeks to produce my sketch book of work towards the production of my final piece. I aim to complete my initial research within the 1st week and start photographing by the 2nd week in order to give me the time I need to show progression. I will then have an 8 hour practical exam where I will print and mount my final photos.

As my project progresses I will use annotations throughout my sketchbook labelling my ideas and development clearly. This will also help me to reflect on the work I produce.

After the creation of my final piece I will write a final evaluation on the project as a whole, reflecting on what went well and what I would do differently or change given the time. Many Android devices are equipped with built-in cameras.
